A sprain is an injury that affects the ligaments, commonly affected areas is the Stifle (Cruciate Ligament) Hock & Tarsus (ankle) Toes Wrist (carpus). As with a strain the ligaments overstretch and can rupture or tear, leading to pain and the inability to use the affected limb.
Symptons include:
- Swelling

The 4 Grades of Sprain:
- Grade 1: Minor tear or stretch
- Grade 2: tear followed by swelling
- Grade 3: Complete rupture
- Grade 4: Ligament breaks and takes a small piece of bone with it
